Ruby is a rare form of Sapphire and is one of the ONLY sapphire family/Corundum family gemstones that has its name instead of its colour named before it (e.g. Blue Sapphire, Pink Sapphire, Yellow Sapphire, etc)

It can be tricky buying a ruby since lots of pink Sapphires are graded/certified as Ruby so that the value of the gemstone goes up. Choosing a ruby should be done carefully and after some research, so you know you are buying an actual RUBY and NOT a Pink Sapphire which is slightly darker in colour. Our Gemologists use the GIA standard to grade and differentiate Ruby from Pink Sapphire
