(Important, Please read carefully)

LIHINIYA GEMS GUARANTEE

We guarantee the main gemstone and any accompanying gemstones and the metal used (Sterling Silver/Gold/Platinum) is Guaranteed to be what it says on the official receipt/certificate given at that time of purchase to the customer. The customer is solely responsible for taking reasonable care of the piece of jewellery purchased and necessary maintenance and service is done to the jewellery in a timely manner to keep the jewellery which was purchased. Please refer to ur Jewellery care page for more information.

 EXCLUSIONS

General wear and tear, accidental damage, damage caused by mishandling or misuse of the article, items being dropped on a hard surface where gemstones might come off the settings, rough use of Jewellery (swimming, diving, wearing jewellery while using corrosive liquids, driving while wearing Eternity Rings, Natural Disasters. If for some reason the Main stone of the jewellery article purchased came off, it will be reset free of charge by Lihiniya Gems. However bringing the damaged Jewellery back to the store (42A, Hospital Street, Fort Galle, Sri Lanka) along with the main stone and the official receipt and any certificates issued to be fixed will be the sole responsibility of the customer. Items repaired by a third party will VOID the guarantee and we (Lihiniya Gems) will take no responsibility of the product afterwards unless it was/has been agreed with us (Lihiniya Gems) by writing (Email, Letter).

CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY

Like any new product, Jewellery needs servicing and considerable maintenance on a timely basis. We at Lihiniya Gems advice all our customers to take their items to a reputable  Jeweller/Goldsmith and get items checked at least every six months. This helps keep your jewellery in good condition and would minimise any damages and loss. (e.g: claw set gems should be checked for loosened setting after a while)

JEWELLERY REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE

Maintenance, alterations and repairs will be done free of charge for jewellery purchased from us (Lihiniya Gems). Jewellery not purchased from Lihiniya Gems will be lab tested to confirm the quality of the metal the jewellery is made, the gemstones checked by a qualified gemmologist before any repair is undertaken. In the event of any metal or gemstones have to be replaced the customer will be informed and we will give you a quote to you about the costs that will you/the customer will be billed. All repairs/alterations to be done should be handed over in person to our store IN PERSON, unless otherwise advised by us. Any items posted to us/sent will be the responsibility of the customer if the item is lost/damaged in transit before reaching is. In the event of postage, any customs/tax charges  to be paid will also be the sole responsibility of the customer.

CERTIFICATION

Most of our Sapphires, Precious gemstones and some valuable semi-precious gemstones carry Certificates from Independent Internationally Qualified (GIA, FGA) Gemmologists. Independent Gemstone certification service is done upon request and is free of charge for stones of a certain value or higher (Please ask for details) Certification for items below this value is usually done by our own in house GIA qualified Gemmologist. Certification is done by the NGJA (National Gem & Jewellery Authority of Sri Lanka) which is the government authority & regulator on Gems & Jewellery or by a GIA/FGA qualified independent Gemmologist) which ever service is conveniently available at the time. Guarantee/Certification for individual gemstones up to 0.50cts, Semi-precious Gemstones and silver jewellery will be the INVOICE/PAYMENT RECEIPT. “Certificate of Authenticity” is printed and issued by Lihiniya Gems and carries the Lihiniya Gems official logo, official seal and the official signature. Certificate requests have to be made before the order has been placed (For independent Gemmologist Certificates). Some details pertaining to certain gemstones (Especially, Padparadscha Sapphires, Rubies, Alexandrites and some other coloured stones) are the opinion of the individual independent gemmologist and can differ from one gemmologist to another. What the certificate/report guarantees is the gemstones mentioned to be genuine and NOT of MAN-MADE item and origin or any other treatments if any or if not. e.g: One gemmologist might certify a gemstone as a “Padparadscha Sapphire“ while another can have an opinion that is, in fact, a “Pink Sapphire”. e.g: While one gemmologist can have the opinion that a particular Sapphire is certified “Hot/Vivid Pink” Sapphire, another can have the opinion it is a “Ruby“. In all cases mentioned above what is consistent is the gemstone in question to be of a “Natural Origin” or be Natural earth-mined gemstone**(please see below). This is what we (Lihiniya Gems) guarantee provides to you

PRICES & QUOTATIONS

Prices are displayed as accurately as possible on the website and there may be occasions where some prices might have been displayed/entered by error. In these occasions, Lihiniya Gems reserves the right to change the prices accordingly without any prior notice. Customers should check the website/refresh the website before making any payments to make sure the price is accurate or contact us for help. Lihiniya Gems also reserves the right to change product prices as and when required to suit the business. Prices may change without any notice and Lihiniya Gems is NOT obliged to notify these changes unless you (the customer) have been given a pre-agreed quotation. Prices on this website (www.lihiniyagems.com) can be different from the prices displayed in-store (42A Hospital Street, Fort, Galle, Sri Lanka). Please inquire if you are not sure. Some sale/promotional prices displayed on this website might not be available in store. We advise you to inquire before you make any purchases/place orders to avoid any misunderstandings. Quotations for custom pieces/commissions and gemstones are given on request are only valid for 30 days. Once the 30 day period has expired you are kindly advised to get a fresh quotation.

Competitive Pricing: It is the responsibility of the customer (you) to check and compare prices elsewhere before making any purchase at Lihiniya Gems. Our products are unique hence we DO NOT offer a price matching service currently

PAYMENT

We (Lihiniya Gems) requires FULL payment on any items whether it is custom made or in stock before any product/s are handed over or shipped/couriered. If  the payment method is Bank Transfer, the total amount should be sent to us after your (Customer’s) bank has deducted any fees. Bank charges on your end is the responsibility of you (Customer). Any deposits have to be fully settled before items are posted/handed over. We currently DO NOT accept any partial payments due to bank charges and complications on refunds.

ACCEPTING THE TERMS

When you(customer) order any item that is sold by us (Lihiniya Gems) or confirms any custom commission, purchase any products, services, you (the customer) will be entering a legal contract with Lihiniya Gems located at 42A, Hospital Street, Fort, Galle, Sri Lanka and the law applicable would be the law of the country where the business is located (Sri Lanka). By ordering you also acknowledge that you have read ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS above and AGREED to all the terms and conditions above

** Natural Gemstones- This means gemstones of a natural origin or has been mined from the earth. We (Lihiniya Gems) guarantees that your gemstones are Natural earth-mined minerals and are NOT MAN MADE unless otherwise specifically mentioned on the product page

All gemstones: usually more than 90% of sapphires are Heated/Thermally enhanced/Traditionally Heated. This is the only kind of gemstones that are sold at Lihiniya Gems along with UNHEATED/NO INDICATION OF HEAT gemstones. Usually, heat treatment is not disclosed in certification since it is common and an accepted method of treatment in the industry done for hundreds of years and the gemstone is considered to be “Natural” since there is no outside element added or subtracted from the gemstones. Some gemstone certificates might although have “Heated”/”Indication of Heating” mentioned and this is not always consistent since most of the gemstones are only checked to see if they are natural earth mined gemstones.

Gemstones which are treated in ANY OTHER WAY apart from heat treatment  (e.g: diffusion, colouring, high-pressure heat, lead glass filling (for rubies), x-ray, etc etc) are NOT sold at Lihiniya Gems since they are almost valueless.

Blue Topaz: All blue topaz apart from the very light colours are Irradiated (Topaz is Colourless most of the time)

DIAMONDS: All White diamonds sold by us are Natural and UNTREATED. Coloured Diamonds can be Natural and Irradiated. Please ask/Check with us if unclear
